SerialCo_ stands as an intermediary between the natural world, society, and technology. As we stand in the midst of it, Web 3.0 shows how we can utilise and benefit from it.

Audience members will be taken on a quick tour around Web 3.0 topics: think who, what, when, why, and how. This is done to prepare you to interact with Web 3.0 seamlessly. So you won’t be entering the ring naked and afraid

About the Instructor(s):

SerialCo_ is a creative technology studio composed of digital natives that produce and develop art projects, products, and services. We believe that the future is collaborative and we aim to connect both the physical world and the Metaverse through phygital experiences and digital asset creation.

Is the world in which we currently live the Beta World?

In the webinar, TZUSOO envisions a near future in which all human souls will be uploaded to computers. This would make our world a test run for the subsequent, mature virtual world that will be populated by digitised (trans)human consciousness, AIs, cyborgs and avatars. She dreams of a space where various beings can coexist through her art that focuses on the queerness of human bodies, gender, and human rights in a virtualized future.

Join TZUSOO and the forward-looking exploration of ‘apocalyptic conceptions’ of utopia or dystopia in the coming digitised world.

About the Speaker:

TZUSOO is a well-known artist and music video director who collaborates with rising star musicians. Based in Berlin and Seoul, she is a symbol of a first-generation digital native that freely crosses the borders between traditional and popular art.

This webinar is available via VRChat by registration only. Don't miss it! RSVP your spot

Where is the boundary between gaming and education? With the advent of the new normal era, games previously perceived as a disease have emerged as a new means of education and communication.

This Masterclass talks about the process of conducting culture and art education using games in the Metaverse, along with examples of its existing application.

Explore cases and methods of connecting the real and virtual worlds through VRChat, “relationship formation” for education, and the concerns about “technical and cultural arts education.”

About the Instructor(s):

Founded in 2003, “Funny Revenge” is an organisation that plans and operates subculture-based festivals, exhibitions, and performances in Busan, Korea. Currently, they are opening cafes and creative spaces with artists and creating new villages with residents. With the advent of the pandemic and the subsequent new normal, they have expanded their domain to virtual space/metaverse and use it to experiment and operate various cultural, arts, and educational programs.

In the frame of binary expressions– complexity vs. simplicity, divergent vs. convergent, the expected vs. the unexpected, and so on, a set of rules can determine a series of compositions to create a spatial domain or ‘zone’ by balancing two vectors.

This Masterclass consists of two parts.

The Presentation seeks to foster a discussion around serial yet non-linear modes of spatial production, advocating for the adoption of the ethics and aesthetics of block-base "discrete" forms of constitution - digital and physical spaces and modes of interaction.

The Workshop will conduct exploration and experiment into the "right" (right as in "necessary") tune, the "mood," the dynamic balance between order and chaos — in other words, a complex dynamism. The seriality aimed at here is neither total genericness (the repetition of the same) nor continuous differentiation (the repetition of the different) but rather a balance of two binary facets.

*Prerequisite for the Workshop:

Given the transient nature of the workshop, participants will not be required to design in real time but to follow exercises conducted through a few software —basic understanding of Rhino + Grasshopper, Unreal5, and Blender, although not mandatory, is a+++.

About the Instructor(s):
formAxioms was established in 2018 by Eva Castro and Federico Ruberto as a research framework, agency, and teaching cluster. The laboratory prototypes spaces-interfaces-infrastructures for trans-subjective and collaborative-participatory operations, working to re-discover the emancipatory potential of art and design. formAxioms is a curatorial core at HotHouse.

Non-linear Serialism

PRESENTATION 1.5 h

It's (in-)complete I It's (in-)finite I It's (un-)connected I It's unique(-s) I It adds I It sum(mon)s up I It (re-)aggregates I It generates complexity upon the simplicity of the unit I It promotes a distributed way of thinking about form in terms of ongoing formation I It requires the development of a logic of adjacencies and consensual responsibilities I It fosters collaborative efforts in the production of communal environments I … I … I … I The talk presents a case for serial yet non-linear modes of spatial production, advocating for the adoption of the ethics and aesthetics of block-base, "discrete" forms of constitution –

digital and physical spaces and modes of interaction.

WORKSHOP* 1.5 h

Formal studies on patterns and rules are conducted iteratively to understand the "divergent" or "convergent" nature of series. These experiments in "serialized" composition (made of discrete parts, potentially prefabricated) are conducted in order to create an environment, an atmosphere, a spatial domain, a "zone" determined by balancing two vectors: that of "difference" and that of "repetition". The seriality aimed at here is neither total genericness (the repetition-of-the-same) nor continuous differentiation (the repetition-of-the-different). The experiments are conducted to discover the "right" (right as in "necessary") tune, the "mood", the dynamic balance between order and chaos — in other words, a complex dynamism. Series shall emerge via rules by relying on discrete sets of components operating at different levels and utilizing various interlocking operations — non-linear forms of organization.
